Memories of my brother? I have so many. He was such a very happy and optimistic people person. Smart, Witty, charming, loveable, caring, funny and everything a parent could ever want in a son, and the best brother a sister could ever wish for. After graduating, he took a year off to travel through Europe with friends and came home with a lifetime of memories of countries he visited. Not one to sit around for long, he applied and attended the Toronto School of Arts. His chosen career was designing and mask artistry. After graduation, he accepted a position with a high end jewellery company where he designed rings and other jewellery. His attention to detail lead him to pursue mask making. His work was front page in Toronto Life magazine. Many of his art works were shown in galleries throughout Toronto and British Columbia. I have a few hanging in my home. I was also very fortunate to have a beautiful ring he designed and gave me. One of my vivid memories is the Christmas back in 83. Terrible stormy weather we had that month. Christmas eve, he left work early to drive to my home south of Langton. Couldn't see your hand in front of your face. We were all a bundle of nerves when the phone rang. He was in Springford at the gas station. He had no idea where he was. Snow ploughs all over, and police advising everyone to stay off the roads. But oh no, (might I add he had the Tokarz determination) to keep trucking, 2 and a half hours later we arrived at our home. It normally would have been a 1/2 hour drive. I will tell you that we both got plastered, (and I don't drink). Tells you how relieved I was to see him safe and sound. He was very devoted to his friends and most importantly his parents. He was so proud of his niece Lisa and spoiled her rotten whenever he could. Part of us all died the day he was taken away. He lives in our hearts and he will never be forgotten. I love you Rob and miss you every single day! |
